Frequently asked questions
What is ICQ status indicator?
ICQ status indicator is a picture that can be inserted into website or displayed directly by entering it's address into web browser. The image changes depending on present status of user's login into ICQ network. User can be online, offline or his login status cannot be resolved.
What exactly the individual states means?
ICQ distinguishes only three states - online, offline and not available.
-
"Not available" will be displayed if user's login status cannot be resolved or sometimes in case that user has disabled Web Aware service in his settings.
ATTENTION! This status does not mean that user is logged in as N/A! - "Offline" will be displayed if user is logged in as invisible or is not logged in at all.
- And finally "online" image will be displayed in all other cases (online, away, na, occupied, DnD and free for chat).
Why maximum dimensions and maximum image sizes are set?
Because they simply are. I am not curious about several-megabyte posters which will never be really used.
Why am I still "not available"?
First of all it depends on whether you have enabled Web Aware service or not. If not, there is nothing more to solve. Enable it and everything should work (sample screenshots from various clients are below this text). In exceptional cases this undetectability can be caused by your proxy server or internet gateway (theoretically, this shouldn't happen but I've seen it couple of times). In this case, there is no help for you...
Another reason of such behaviour, very popular last time, is simple failure of one of the servers operating this service. In this case all other servers are immediately overloaded and in most cases they return n/a, eventually offline status.

How can I insert ICQ indicator into my signature on internet forum?
Because most forums disabled direct use of HTML tags in signatures for security reasons, special URL which can be used in bbCode was developped. To insert ICQ indicator into your signature follow theese steps:
- In indicator gallery click on "insert indicator into page" under selected indicator.
- Insert your ICQ, in "generate" menu select "bbCode" and click on "generate code".
- Text field with code will appear above the form, so copy the code and insert it into your signature. That is all :-)
Why do I see still the same status in browser after I changed it?
Browsers tend to store images in the cache memory to load the page quicker next time you visit it. This memory cannot be affected by deleting temporary files. Sometimes pressing F5 and reloading the page helps, but in most cases the only way to clear cache memory is to close all browser windows, or to use some cache-clearing tool.
How is this made?
I will not teel you, don't ask ;-)
